I am often asked about the policies and practices surrounding school closings. Decisions to close or dismiss school early are never easy and involve all kinds of factors including current and forecasted weather situations, input from the County Road Commissioners, and driving the roads first hand in the early morning hours. For cold weather, the standard has been established at -20 degrees. This is the standard that most all of the superintendents in the area use. Occasionally, additional factors may be a play a role in the decision as well. Currently, predictions for Friday morning are for temperatures of -14 and -15, so unless the forecasts change, I expect to have school in session on Friday. Please dress warmly and plan accordingly!
